Vogel Crystals Explained
“Vogel Crystals” and “Healing Wands”
What are “Vogel” Crystals?
Vogel Crystals are quartz crystals that are carefully cut in conformance to the findings and teachings of Marcel Vogel (1917-1991). They are healing crystals and meditation crystals that are cut to maximize the collection, amplification, and transmission of the Universal Life Force.
Who was Marcel Vogel?
Marcel Vogel was a research scientist with IBM for many years and holds a number of patents in the field of luminescence. He spent the later years of his life exploring the powers of quartz crystals among other interests.
What makes a crystal a “Vogel”?
To be considered a “Vogel” a crystal must be made of natural quartz and be cut with the appropriate care, intent, and precision necessary to assure the Universal Life Force is attracted, amplified, and transmitted properly. Essentially the literature tells us that a properly cut crystal takes in energy at the receptive end, amplifies it as it circulates around inside, hitting the internal sides of the polished side facets as it revolves, and then is transmitted from the focal end.
The crystal must be natural quartz.
The crystal must be hand cut with the necessary intent, skill, and understanding of the crystal and its intended uses.
The crystal must be doubly terminated or cut and polished to this shape.
The crystal has to be cut completely aligned with the C axis of the quartz crystal.
The receptive (sometimes called female) end of the crystal must be faceted forming an internal angle of 51 degrees, 51 minutes, 51 seconds. This is the same angle as the angle of the sides of the Great Pyramid at Giza.
The crystal must have four or more side facets.
The transmitter (sometimes referred to as the male) end of the crystal must be faceted with a more acute internal angle than the receptive end.
What are Vogel Crystals used for?
Basically a Vogel crystal is cut to amplify, coalesce, and focus thoughts and energy that you wish to direct into your body/mind or that of another person. The design of the crystal allows for your thoughts and energy (and the pervasive Universal Life Force), to enter the crystal at the receptive end, be amplified and focused as it travels in a circular pattern through the crystal, and be transmitted like a laser beam from the focal end.
In this way they are used primarily for healing efforts, both for sending healing energy to the body and the spirit; meditation to focus the connections with spirit world beings; and in efforts to focus our Life Forces on accomplishing our goals and dreams with laser like focus.
There is little really written on the uses of particular Vogel designs, but here is a short summary of what is known. For crystals of other cuts, you will need to work with them to determine their specific applications. Marcel Vogel pointed out in his teachings that a large number of facets was not necessary and that a crystal with 13 sides was more than adequate for all uses. However, current cutters offer a wider choice.
4 sided crystals are for healing efforts aimed at the physical body
6 sided crystals are used for healing emotional ailments
8 sided crystals are used for dealing with severe emotional trauma
13 sided crystals are used in meditation to connect with past lives21 sided crystals are used to resolve family issues
24/8 sided crystals are used for spiritual rebirth
24/12 sided crystals are used in transformation efforts
Who is cutting authentic “Vogel Crystals”?
We know of three sources of crystals that offer Vogel Crystals.
First of all, Drew Tousley of Luminary Studios has been cutting Vogel crystals since 1985. (www.luminarystudios.com) Drew worked directly for Marcel Vogel and hand cuts his crystals to assure they bring the energy and spirit necessary for effective healing and meditation work. Drew also sells a number of other healing tools. They are quite striking and powerful. These include the Angel Crystal, Angel II, Foreseer, Magician, and Vision Quest designs.
We understand that Lifestream Associates of Orlando Florida hold the trademark to ”Vogel-cut”. That company is the direct follow on to Marcel Vogel’s company, and they have reserved the trademark “Vogel-cut Crystals” for their use. The site is owned and operated by Rumi Da (Ron Carson) a former associate of Marcel Vogel. (www.vogelcrystals.net)
Finally, Bill Hurley cuts what he reports as authentic Vogel crystals and markets them as Master Healing Crystals.
What kinds of Vogel crystals are available?
Keeping to the basic concepts laid out by Marcel Vogel, these and other cutters have developed and enhanced the basic designs of Vogel crystals and created many new forms that are true to the Vogel teachings.
Crystals with 6, 8, 12, 13,16, and 24 sides are cut by Drew Tousley at Luminary Studios, who hand cuts these crystals in the exact way taught by Marcel Vogel.
According to their Web site, crystals with 4, 6, 7,8, 11, 12, 13,14,16,18,and 24 facets are made and sold by Rumi Da (Ron Carson) of Vogelcrystals.net.
Crystals with 8, 12, 13, 16, 88, 108, and 144 sides are cut and sold by Bill Hurley at Crystal Wings, according to their Web site.
What is a Healing Wand?
Healing Wands are faceted quartz crystals, sometimes but not always, cut strictly in accordance with the teaching of Marcel Vogel.
Drew Tousley of Luminary Studios offers several hand cut Healing Tools.
The Angel Crystal is a 2 – 3 inch hand cut healing wand.
The Foreseer is a modification of the basic Vogel 4 sided crystal, and can be used much as a Vogel. It makes a wonderful pocket companion in a smaller size. It is about 3-5 inches long.
The Angel II is the modified version of the Angel with many extra facets and matte finish lines which create an incredible texture visually, and soften the feel.
The Magician is is a wonderful, wand-like piece, which takes its name from the second card of the Tarot. There is a three-in-one aspect to the long lines in the body of the crystal, as well as the suggestion of flames at both ends of a staff.
The Vision Quest design has three major faces flanked by 6 minor faces creating a bright and fiery crystal which is also distinctively elegant in nature. The tip facets also has three major facets which are offset, and six minor facets. All minor facets are edged by matte finish lines which create a wonderful texture within the piece.
Bill Hurley, owner and founder of Crystal Wings, tells us on his Web site that he “studied and was certified by Marcel Vogel in the early 1970’s. Bill is one of the rare dealers of Authentic Vogel Crystals that personally studied with Marcel. [and is] the most authentic and reliable source and is in total alignment with the Vogel lineage and knowledge” (crystalwings.com). He sells ‘Master Healing Crystals’.” which we assume are crystals cut according to the teachings of Marcel Vogel, but not officially sold as Vogel Crystals due to trademark issues.
In addition Mr Ray Pinto (pictured [left] with Bob Dube at Tucson, 2010), of Brazil cuts and markets “Kabbalistic Cut Healing Wands” in the style and in conformance with the thoughts and teachings of Marcel Vogel.
Ray reports that he cuts these crystals in the exact way that Marcel Vogel instructed using the same angles and proportions. He however, is careful to note that they are not “Vogel Crystals” again we understand to avoid copyright issues.
In addition, he has developed a cut called the Dream Crystal.
A Dream Crystal is a special cut developed by Ray Pinto. It is called that, he has explained to me, because it came to him in a dream from Marcel. He says the Dream Crystal is an evolved form of the designs of Marcel.
This crystal shape is quite unique, usually having several concave facets.
How much do Vogel Crystals cost?
Small hand cut crystals that are true to the teachings of Marcel Vogel cost $100-$700. This is for about a 3 inch x 1 inch crystals. Ones with more facets cost more.
.Four inch crystals can cost from $800 to $1500 or so depending on the number of facets. Five inch crystals are often in the $2000 – $3000 range. I have seen 7 inch crystals with high numbers of facets costing upward of $5000. The material, workmanship and time involved are the primary price drivers. These are as much a work of art as science.
How much do Healing Wands cost?
Kabbalistic Healing Wands and Dream Crystals cost about the same. Sometimes more depending on the complexity of the cut and cost of the materials used.
