7 Tips For Balancing The Chakras With Crystals
Crystal healing is one of the best ways to balance the chakras. These vital energy centres are thought to affect everything from your mood to relationships, so keeping them unblocked and balanced is important.
In this article, I’ll go through seven tips for using crystals to balance the chakras. I’ll also discuss how to combine crystals with yoga, meditation, and sound to enhance your healing sessions.
Why It’s Important to Balance the Chakras
The seven chakras are located from the base of the spine to the head. They correspond to major organs and nerves, which is why many people believe they are linked to physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
Each chakra can function effectively when energy flows freely between them. But if even one chakra is out of balance, it affects the flow through all of the chakras.
This interrupted energy flow can have a variety of negative effects. Common symptoms include anxiety, tiredness, and low self-esteem. An imbalanced chakra can also affect your creativity and happiness.
Crystal healing is a fast and convenient way to fix these issues. Crystals can unblock each of the seven chakras and ensure that proper balance is restored.
7 Tips for Balancing the Chakras
1. Choose the Right Crystals for Each Chakra
Each chakra has an associated colour. For example, the root chakra is red, while the throat chakra is associated with light blue.
By choosing crystals of a certain colour, you can clear blockages or imbalances from a specific chakra. This can make crystal healing much more effective, especially if you suspect which chakra is blocked or causing a problem.
Here’s a quick overview of the colours linked to the seven chakras, along with my favourite crystals for balancing each chakra.
- Root Chakra (Red) – Red Jasper
- Sacral Chakra (Orange) – Orange Calcite
- Solar Plexus Chakra (Yellow) – Yellow Citrine
- Heart Chakra (Green/Pink) – Rose Quartz
- Throat Chakra (Light Blue) – Lapis Lazuli
- Third Eye (Indigo Blue/Purple) – Amethyst
- Crown (White/Violet) – Clear Quartz
Keep in mind that there’s no such thing as the “wrong” crystal to use during a healing session. The gemstones above are a great place to start when balancing the chakras, but trust your intuition to guide you to the right gemstones.
2. Meditate With Crystals To Clear the Chakra
Meditation with crystals is one of the best ways to balance all of the chakras.
To perform this method, lie down and place a stone over each of the seven chakras, starting with the root chakra. If you’re not sure which crystals to choose, use the gemstones I listed above.
While the stones are on your body, perform a breathing meditation for at least 15 minutes. It can help to visualise cleansing and opening each chakra during each exhale. When you’ve finished, remove the stones in reverse order, starting with the crown.
Tip: Don’t panic if a crystal slides off during your meditation. It’ll still be near enough the chakra to provide the same benefits.
3. Wear Chakra Crystals Throughout the Day
If you want a more passive method for balancing the chakras, consider wearing or carrying crystals throughout the day.
For example, you could wear a bracelet with seven chakra stones. Or carry a small pouch containing each of the stones in your pocket.
By keeping the crystals inside your energy field throughout the day, you’ll benefit from their healing properties and keep the chakras balanced.
4. Combine Crystal Therapy With Sound
Sound can be used to enhance a chakra healing session. Crystal singing bowls are wonderful for this, as you can play a single note without getting distracted by music.
There are seven notes in the major scale. Each of the seven chakras resonates with a different note, so choose the appropriate pitch for the chakra you want to unblock or balance.
- Crown Chakra – B
- Third Eye Chakra – A
- Throat Chakra – G
- Heart Chakra – F
- Solar Plexus Chakra – E
- Sacral Chakra – D
- Root Chakra – C
If you don’t have a crystal singing bowl, then you can always use YouTube as an alternative. There are many videos of singing bowls being played with a specific note for extended periods.
5. Understand What Balanced Chakras Feel Like
It’s helpful to know what it feels like when the charkas are unblocked and balanced. Here’s a quick summary for each chakra:
- Root – Grounded, safe, and at one with nature.
- Sacral – Creative, confident, and filled with joy.
- Solar Plexus – High self-esteem and plenty of energy.
- Heart – Empathetic, loving, and a sense of inner harmony.
- Throat – A great listener, but also able to speak your inner truths.
- Third Eye – Intuitive and a clear purpose in life.
- Crown – Able to connect with your higher self, your true purpose, and the universe as a whole.
You can use this information to target your crystal healing at the chakra most likely to be causing an issue.
For example, if you’re feeling anxious and disconnected from the world, then your root chakra may need clearing. But if you’re struggling to listen to others or find it hard to speak up, then the throat chakra is probably the source of the issue.
6. Add Chakra Crystals To Your Yoga Practice
You can enhance your yoga practice by placing seven chakra crystals around your mat. This helps to resolve imbalances in the chakras during your yoga session.
Certain poses are also linked with a specific chakra. For example, child’s pose and downward facing dog are focused on the Root Chakra. Poses like the lotus and rabbit are linked to the crown chakra.
7. Create A Relaxed Environment During a Crystal Healing Session
Clearing the chakras and resolving imbalances can take some time. It’s important to create a relaxing environment where you know you won’t be disturbed.
Here are some tips for creating a sacred space for chakra healing:
- Turn off your phone and put it in another room. Hearing the sound of a notification can interrupt your focus and make it difficult to continue with a crystal healing session.
- Make sure you won’t be interrupted during your healing session. If there are other people in the house, ask them to only disturb you in an emergency.
- Use a yoga mat or soft cushion to ensure you’re comfortable.
- Surround yourself with items that are calming, such as candles or flowers. Incense can also help to create a relaxing environment.
- Remove clutter or unnecessary items from the sacred space. Aside from being unsightly, clutter can affect natural energy flows.
- Cleanse your space before using it for chakra healing. You can use the smoke of burning sage for this. Placing selenite around the room can also have a cleansing effect.
Tip: You don’t need an entire room dedicated to crystal healing. Just setting aside a small area can make your sessions more effective.
