What is Adamite?
Adamite is an uncommon mineral that is frequently pale or brownish yellow but is also found in rose red, blue, pale greens, and even purple when it is formed in the presence of cobalt. It is named after a famous collector, Gilbert Joseph Adam.
It is found in numerous locations worldwide, including Mexico, southern Africa, in Russia, China, Canada, Greece, and New Zealand. The Cuprian Adamite from Greece is particularly attractive but expensive. Most adamite you will find for sale will be found as small granular crystals on the matrix. The color and size, and attractiveness to the eye are the primary drivers of cost. Most of the Adamite on the market is from the Ojuela mine near Mapimi, Chihuahua, Mexico.
How are they formed?
Adamite occurs as a secondary mineral in the oxidized zone of zinc- and arsenic-bearing hydrothermal mineral deposits. Wikipedia notes, "It occurs in association with smithsonite, hemimorphite, scorodite, olivenite, calcite, quartz and iron, and manganese oxides.” The chemical composition is Zn2(AsO4)(OH) - a Zinc Arsenic Oxide.
What are Adamite's Metaphysical Properties?
Adamite gets its metaphysical properties from its crystalline structure, composite elements, and its color primarily.
If your emotions rule you, Adamite creates emotional equilibrium and will help you to find a calm, centered space around which emotions can rage without affecting your inner serenity. It can help you clearly communicate your needs and attract joy into your life. One of this stone’s biggest draws is its ability to restore an almost childlike sense of wonderment, banishing negativity, disillusion, cynicism, and skepticism. It has a harmonizing effect on the body and fills it with humor and joy.
Chakra Balancing Healing Properties
Adamite helps to unblock and balance the Solar Plexus Chakra. This chakra is the energy distribution center and the chakra of relationships. It is located between the ribcage and navel and controls the immune and digestive systems.
When the Solar Plexus is out of balance, you will feel fearful of displeasing others or yourself. You may also have low self-esteem, digestion issues, and weaker willpower.
However, these stones are special crystals because it connects to the Heart Chakra at the same time. It aligns these two chakras simultaneously, which allows you to understand the feelings of the heart while exposing your own innate desires and wants.
The Heart Chakra is located near the center of the breastbone. It regulates our interaction with the external world and controls what we embrace and what we resist. When the Heart Chakra is out of balance, you may feel either controlling or controlled in a relationship and become critical of the little foibles of others. Adamite is used in honoring Annapurna, the Hindu Goddess of Food, Cooking, and Kitchens; Bona Dea, the Roman Earth Goddess of Fertility; Clota, Goddess of the River Clyde; Itzpapaloti, the Aztec Butterfly Goddess; Vac, the Hindu Goddess of the Spoken Word; and Minerva, the Etruscan Goddess of Wisdom.
How to use Adamite?
Adamite is a stone of emotional support, centering, and calmness in the storm. It has some applications as a healing stone for the endocrine system, but primarily this stone is a wonderful support crystal for your emotional well-being.
Because of this use, it must absolutely be kept away from areas of stress, conflict, and discord when you are not using it. It also needs to be cleansed very regularly. It is a soft, sensitive stone, and you must treat it as such.
We suggest you consider keeping it locked away and used in simple meditations and simple “calm in the storm” ceremonies. To clean it, as it will normally be on matrix and you will never be sure what other minerals are included, it is best not to use water to cleanse it. You should probably use the West wind and a flower for best results.

Place your crystal just downwind from a beautiful flower. Allow the wind to blow over the flower and then over your crystal. The West Wind should brush through the flower petals before it reaches your crystal.”
